METAL BRACES
Traditional metal braces remain one of the most reliable and effective ways to correct a wide range of orthodontic concerns, from mild crowding and spacing to more complex bite problems. Today’s braces are smaller, more streamlined, and more comfortable than the metal braces many adults may remember.
Made from high-grade stainless steel, metal braces use brackets and archwires to apply gentle, controlled pressure that gradually moves teeth into their ideal positions. They also give your orthodontist precise control over tooth movement, making them a dependable option for children, teenagers, and adults.
Patients can personalize their braces with colored elastics at each appointment, whether they prefer favorite colors, school colors, holiday themes, or a more subtle look.
CERAMIC BRACES
Ceramic braces offer the effectiveness of traditional braces with a more discreet appearance. Made from clear or tooth-colored materials, they blend in with the teeth and are often a popular choice for older teenagers and adults who want a less noticeable treatment option.
Like metal braces, ceramic braces use brackets and archwires to apply gentle, controlled pressure that gradually moves teeth into better alignment. They can treat many of the same orthodontic concerns while providing a more subtle look throughout treatment.
Because ceramic brackets are slightly larger and more fragile than metal brackets, they require careful brushing, flossing, and maintenance. They are most commonly used on the upper front teeth, where appearance is often the greatest concern.

Damon Braces
Damon Braces use a self-ligating system that eliminates the need for elastic ties, reducing friction and allowing teeth to move more freely and comfortably. This advanced technology often leads to faster treatment times, fewer office visits, and a broader, more natural smile. The system is designed for better hygiene, improved comfort, and excellent long-term results. Whether you’re looking for a discreet clear option or a traditional metal look, Damon Braces offer a cutting-edge solution for straightening teeth with less hassle and great outcomes.
Airway Aware Interceptive treatment
A narrow or restricted airway can significantly affect a child’s development and should be taken into account when assessing their overall health. Our team uses advanced 3D imaging with the i-CAT FLX cone beam CT scanner to evaluate each patient’s airway.
For children under 12, if a restricted airway is detected, Dr. Sukoff may begin a growth-guided airway treatment plan. This approach helps widen the airway as the child grows and may reduce the risk of developing obstructive sleep apnea while supporting better long-term health.
Signs your child may have a restricted airway:
- Snoring
- Bedwetting
- Mood changes
- Behavioral challenges
- Teeth grinding
- Mouth breathing
- Trouble focusing or paying attention
TREATMENTS
While there is no exact age for children to begin orthodontic treatment, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends visiting the orthodontist around age seven.
By this age, most children have a mix of baby teeth and adult teeth, making it easier for the orthodontist to diagnose and correct tooth and jaw problems sooner and without surgery.
- Correct and guide the growth of your child’s jaw to help the permanent teeth come in straight
- Regulate the width of the upper and lower arches
- Create more space for crowded teeth
- Avoid the need for permanent tooth extractions later in life
- Correct thumb sucking and help improve minor speech problems
